Local Stakeholders Express Optimism Over Lake Martin Winter Pool Proposal
Local stakeholders shared cautious optimism on Tuesday about the possibility of raising Lake Martin’s winter pool level to 484 feet (mean sea level). Their confidence follows Alabama Power Company’s recent response to the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission’s (FERC) final information request.
John Thompson, president of the Lake Martin Resource Association, expressed hope for the proposal’s approval. “Based on the evidence presented, we believe this has a strong chance of moving forward,” Thompson said.
Dave Heinzen, president of the Lake Martin Home Owner and Boat Owner Association, also welcomed the update. He described the report as “great news” and said he’s hopeful FERC will approve Alabama Power’s request to raise the winter water level.
